Obituary of Walter Lee Douglass

A funeral service for Walter Douglass, 72, of Clarksville, IN will be held on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at 12:00 PM at Gilt Edge Baptist Church, 1713 Green St in Jeffersonville, with burial to follow at Eastern Cemetery. A wake will be held on Monday, June 11 from 6 until 9 PM at the church. 

Born to the late Virginia and Thelbert Douglass fought his way into this world on June 1, 1946.  He fought until he couldn’t  fight anymore and passed away on June 5, 2018 at U of L Hospital with his family at his side.

Walter L. Douglass known as “Walt Doug” was a faithful member of Gilt Edge Baptist Church.  A graduate of Arthur Hill Tech in Saginaw, MI., served in the Navy from 1966-1970.  He worked at General Motors Division in Saginaw as well as a welder at Jeff Boat in Jeffersonville.  He made Jeffersonville, Indiana his home where he gained a lot of love and respect.  He was a ladies man and referred to himself as a “pimp”.  He was always dressed nice and sharp.  He loved to sing and dance and cooking was one of his passions.  He loved to be in the presence of his family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents Virginia and Thelbert Douglass; brother, Joe Douglass; grandparents, Pearlee and Ray Smithers, Laura Douglass; Aunties, Edna Bailey and Georgia Caruthers; along with 8 other aunties and uncles Grandchildren, Zoey and Zaydon Douglass 

He leaves to cherish his memory spouse Keisha James; daughter, Shaneca Cowherd; sons, Ronzell Douglass, Elijah “Tudda”, Corey and Isley James; sisters, Jeannie Hosseinzadeh and Charolette Bradley; brother, Learie Douglass; Momma Mikki Douglass; Aunt Effie Gains and Uncle Gilbert Douglass along with a host of cousins and friends.
