Obituary of Lovern Gales

Lovern Gales of Jeffersonville, Indiana passed away on Thursday, November 23, 2017. She was a member of Gilt Edge Baptist Church and the NAACP organization. She worked for many years at IUS as a housekeeper until her retirement.
Lovern was born on May 4, 1929 in Jeffersonville, IN to the late Hobert and Lettie Hardin. She is preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Gales, son Dennis Gales, brothers John Hardin, Melvin Hardin, Arlester Hardin, and sister Pauline Johnson.
Lovern professed a belief in Christ at an early age at Gilt Edge Baptist Church.
She is survived by her children, Brenda Jolly-Williams, Melvin Gales (Deborah) of Stone Mountain, GA, Wanda Couts (Charles Lynch), Gloria Coffey, and Mark Coffey (Rhonda) of St. Louis, MO; sister, Mary Jo Bell; 4 stepchildren, 25 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren, 14 great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Her celebration of life service will be held at Gilt Edge Baptist Church on Tuesday, November 28, 2017. Wake: 10:00am-12:00pm. Service 12:00pm.
