Obituary of Michael G. "Mike" Hargrave

Michael G. "Mike" Hargrave, 69, of New Albany, IN, passed away on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at Jewish Hospital in Louisville.  Visitation for Mike will be held from 2-7 PM on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at Legacy Funeral Center, 921 Main Street in Jeffersonville.  A short service will be held following visitation at 7 PM.    

Mike was born on October 28, 1948 in Louisville, KY to Dorothy Eskridge Hargrave and the late Jesse Paul Hargrave.  Mike worked nearly 40 years at Churchill Downs and was the Director of Stabling over the race track.  He was an avid golfer and a loving husband, father, grandfather, son and brother.  He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Along with his father, he was preceded in death by a sister, Brenda Hargrave; and two brothers, Robert and Larry Hargrave.

Mike is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Phyllis Hargrave; a daughter, Michelle “Shelley” Evans (Mark); a son, Steve Hargrave (fiancé, Amy Page); his mother, Dorothy Hargrave; a sister, Deborah Babcock (Howard); six grandchildren, Victoria Lee (Levi); Abigail Blondell (Coy); Stephanie Hargrave; Kathryn Evans; Michael Hargrave; Mason Page; one great grandson, Emmitt Lee; and his two faithful companions, Lizzie and Kiwi.
