Obituary of Catherine Filomena "Cathy" Falkenstein Meiman
Funeral services for Catherine Filomena “Cathy” Falkenstein Meiman, 70, of Jeffersonville, IN, will be held at 10 AM on Wednesday, February 7, 2018, at St. Augustine Catholic Church, 315 E. Chestnut Street, Jeffersonville, with burial to follow in Walnut Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 3-8 PM at Legacy Funeral Center, 921 Main Street in Jeffersonville, and from 9-10 AM on Wednesday prior to the service at the church. She passed away on Friday, January 26, 2018.
Cathy was born on June 4, 1947 in New Albany, IN, to the late Paul and Roberta Falkenstein. She attended Sacred Heart grade school, then graduated grade school from Saint Augustine’s in 1961. Cathy then graduated from Our Lady of Providence High School in 1965. While attending Spalding College she was a cheerleader for Bellarmine College, was active in theater, music programs, and sang at weddings and funerals. She graduated from Spalding College in 1969 with her nursing degree and then received her Master’s degree from Indiana University Southeast. Cathy began her 43 year nursing career at Floyd Memorial Hospital as an ER nurse. She then worked at Jewish Hospital as a surgical nurse, worked for the Visiting Nurses Association, and finally for the VA Hospital where she worked as a shift supervisor until she retired in 2012.
She is survived by her loving son, Justin Blake Meiman; two brothers, Paul Falkenstein (Louann Groth Falkenstein); Frank Falkenstein; two nephews, P.K. Falkenstein (Amy Olson Falkenstein); Brent J. Falkenstein; and five great nieces and nephews, Kasey, Kooper, Bailey, Kaylee, and Ellie Falkenstein.
