Obituary of William Lee Taylor

Funeral services for William “Bill” Lee Taylor, 88, of Jeffersonville, IN, will be held at 12 PM on Thursday, April 12, 2018 at Bethel AME Church, 200 West Park Place, Jeffersonville, IN, with burial to follow in Eastern Cemetery.  Visitation will be held prior to the service on Thursday at the church from 11-12 PM.  Visitation will also be held on Wednesday, April 11 from 4-8 PM at Legacy Funeral Center, 921 Main St. Jeffersonville, IN.  He passed away on Friday, April 6, 2018 at his home. 

Bill was born on September 20, 1929, in Hampshire, TN, to the late William Gerard and Laura Gertrude Davis Taylor.  He attended the public schools in New Albany.  Before retiring as a painter, Bill worked as a truck driver for Supreme Oil for many years.  Bill was a proud Veteran of the United States Air Force and served during World War II.  He loved fishing, gardening and cooking.  Bill was well known for his bar-b-que!  

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Vivian Head Taylor; a daughter, Rosalind Kaye Taylor; and five siblings, Grace Sanders, Mary Alexander, Sarah Norfleet, Charles Taylor, and James Taylor.

He is survived by six children, Linda Harris (Robert); Laura "Shelly" Hollerman (Ellis); William Nelson Taylor (Tracey); Terrance Lee Taylor; Allison “Shawn” Leavell (Timothy); Michael Todd Taylor; two siblings, Samuel Taylor; Georgia Roberts; fourteen grandchildren, Nysia, Leslie, Will, Chris, Carrie, Trent, Ryan, Tasha, Courtney, Kelsey, Bailey, Brittany, Amber, Hunter; fourteen great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
