Obituary of James Arthur Sprague

Funeral Services for James A. Sprague “Jim”, 93, of Jeffersonville, IN will be at 11 AM on Thursday, May 3, 2018 at Legacy Funeral Center, 921 Main St. Jeffersonville, IN with burial to follow at Eastern Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 PM – 8 PM on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 and from 9 – 11 on Thursday at the funeral center. James passed away on April 30, 2018 surrounded by his family.

James was born on July 30, 1924 to the late Pete and Bertha Sprague. He was married to Janet Shelton on April 4, 1959. He attended West Maple Baptist Church, and was member of the Jeffersonville Moose Lodge #2420. James was known for his quiet, yet witty, personality, and he loved spending time in his garden.

Along with his parents, James is preceded in death by his sisters, Jean Janes, Betty Missi, Helen Young, and Nelda Broy.

James is survived by his loving wife, Janet Sprague; sons, Larry Sprague (Mel), and James “Tony” Sprague (Vadra); daughters, Mary Miller (Kenny), Yolanda Roberts (Jeff), Jamie Hampton (Charles) and Lisa Sprague (Pete); 9 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Kindred Hospice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
