Obituary of Richard “Doc” Bergstrom

1956-2018

A celebration of life memorial service for the Pro Audio Wizard, the one and only, Doc Electro aka Richard Bergstrom will be held on Wednesday, October 31, 2018, upstairs at Cluckers on the river in Jeffersonville, Indiana from 6:00 - 9:00 pm. Cremation was chosen and Legacy Funeral Center was entrusted with his care. He made his transition on Saturday evening, October 27, 2018, in Louisville, Kentucky.

Richard was born on February 15, 1956, in Phoenix, Arizona to the late Gladys May and Richard Allen Bergstrom. He grew up in sunny southern California and was fiercely independent with a dark sense of humor that would sometimes offend, yet secretly below there was a heart as big as that amazing brain of his. Doc was always fascinated with sound and electronics which showed when he made his first shortwave radio at 10 years old followed by starting his first business at 18. Through the years he matured and expanded his knowledge, working on sound for movies and home audio equipment, but his true passion was found later in life with his custom tube amplifier builds. Doc Electro is a well-known name not only in Kentuckiana, but his amps have traveled the world.  Check out docelectro.com to see some of his work. 

Doc married a few wonderful women: Sonja with whom he shared two beautiful children, Stephanie and Richard; Marcie the intelligent young college student who brought him to Kentucky; and finally, Elaine his beloved Indiana farm girl who was by his side in the end.  His wisdom and knowledge of electronics and the function of sound was unsurpassable, and he will be greatly missed.

Along with his parents, Richard was proceeded by his younger sister, Lynn Price.

He is survived by his wife, Elaine Schimpff; daughter, Stephanie; son, Richard and family; brother, Dave and family; sister, Laura Baer and family; and brother-in-law, Dave Price and family.
