Obituary of Andrew "Butch" Williams III

Andrew “Butch” Williams III
70; Jeffersonville, IN

Andrew Williams III, 70, of Jeffersonville, IN, passed away on November 5, 2018 surrounded by his loving family.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 10, 2018 at Wesley United Methodist Church, 1201 Thomas V. Bryant Drive, Jeffersonville, IN, with burial to follow at Walnut Ridge Cemetery.  Visitation will be held on Friday from 4 to 8 PM and on Saturday from 9 to 11 AM at the church.  Legacy Funeral Center of Jeffersonville has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Andrew was born in Louisville, Kentucky, and was raised in the historic Smoketown Neighborhood. Andrew was a 1966 graduate of Louisville Male High school, and was a member of the “drumline that changed everything.” He paid his way through college as a jazz drummer, graduating from Eastern Kentucky University  in 1970 with a Bachelors of Arts Degree in Sociology and Political Science. He was a  proud charter member  of EKU’s Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Incorporated, Delta Sigma chapter.

Andrew’s vast professional career spanned over 40 years, as an entrepreneur, consultant, and project manager on both sides of the river. He also played a vital and selfless role in supporting Minority business growth and development.

Andrew was a humble  and active community servant.  He served on the Jeffersonville City Council for 12 years, volunteered for many organizations in Kentuckiana, including the  Boy Scouts of America, Jeffersonville Housing Authority, and held past memberships in the NAACP and Jeffersonville Rotary. Andrew loved his church family, was also a devoted and active member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Jeffersonville Indiana.

Andrew had a warm, and infectious smile. He loved his friends and family deeply and  was intentional about spending time and creating memories with them; always sharing wisdom or just a laugh. Andrew was many things to many people: a neighbor, husband,  grandfather, brother, father, role model, cousin, uncle, mentor, barber, drummer, and sometimes a personal banker. But above all he was a loyal and committed friend.

He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Ruthann Williams; his birth parents, Andrew Williams II and Mary Helen Williams; and grandparents, Vernon and Willie Mae Jackson.

He is survived by his loving wife of 13 years, Rosetta “Rose” Williams; children, Kanneil Williams (Tiffany), Andrew Williams IV, Teah Mikole Williams-Hampton (Miguel), Dominique “Nikki” Williams, Carlos Butler, and D’Adren “DJ” Hervey; two siblings, James Snoddy and Rhonda Higgins; grandchildren Andre, Andrel, Anetra,  Andrew V, Antonio, Xavier, Dominik, Mireya, Camryn, Jadynn, Jasmine, Kylen Kevon and one great-grandchild Annalise; his lifelong friends Phillip “Fletch” Fletcher (Georgette), Hugh Armstrong and a host of other close friends and family members.

Expressions of sympathy can be made to the Gilda’s Club or Hosparus of Louisville.  Envelopes will be available at the funeral services.  Online condolences can be made at www.legacyindiana.com
