Obituary of Leah Jones

A funeral service for Leah Jones, 37, of Jeffersonville, IN, will be held at 3 PM on Thursday, February 7, 2019 at Legacy Funeral Center, 921 Main Street in Jeffersonville, with cremation to follow.  Visitation will be held prior to the service on Thursday from 1-3 PM at the funeral home.  She passed away on Monday, February 4, 2019 at Clark Memorial Hospital.  

Leah was born on January 30, 1982 in Mishawaka, IN.  She was a registered nurse and a loving mother, daughter, sister, and friend to many.   Leah loved life and family. Her daughter, Emma Rose Jones was the absolute joy of her existence. As a young girl, Leah was homeschooled. She was an accomplished gymnast, a cheerleader, and played multiple sports in high school. She attended St. Bavo Catholic School, and Marian High School in Mishawaka and then graduated from Jeffersonville High school in 2000. She then set out to conquer the world!  As a single mother, she worked full time and went to school and graduated in 2012 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Purdue North Central, having 5 year old daughter Emma “pin” her in the pinning ceremony. Leah lit up a room when she entered with her beauty, her smile, and her infectious laughter. She had a very generous heart, and would do anything to help someone she loved.  She had a passion for life that ended all too soon, and she will be greatly missed by all whose lives she touched.

She was preceded in death by her longtime companion, Joseph Castro; her father, Christopher David Jones; and grandparents, Charles E. Jones, Raymond W. White, and Earline White.    

Leah is survived by her daughter, Emma Rose Jones; her mom, Anne Jones; four siblings, Christopher Ryan Jones (Katie); Brooke Lindsey (Daniel); Nicholas Jones; Sean Jones; grandmother, Mary Jones; two nephews, Keagan Ryan Jones, Fintan Christopher Jones; a niece, Evelyn Isabelle Lindsey; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
