A funeral service for Patty L. Higgins, 81, of Jeffersonville, IN will be at 11 AM on Wednesday, April 10, 2019 at Return Church 435 Eastern Blvd, Clarksville, IN with burial to follow at a later date in Dallas, WI. Visitation will be on Tuesday, April 9, from 5 PM - 8 PM at Legacy Funeral Center, 921 Main St., Jeffersonville, IN and on Wednesday, April 10, from 10 AM - 11 AM at the church. Patty passed away on April 3, 2019 at her home. 

Patty was born in Iowa Falls, IA on August 14, 1938 to the late Edward and Ester (Gehrke) Humphrey. She attended North Central Bible College and continued on to become an LPN in the NICU department, helping to care for premature infants. Benjamin Higgins and Patty married in 1972 and that is when she entered the lives of the 6 Higgins children, Benjamin E. Higgins Jr deceased, Daniel L. Higgins Sr deceased, R. John E. Higgins 11 (Paige) Rebecca Joyce Brown (Charles), Miriam Burton (Steve), Michael L. Higgins (Carolyn). Although the beginning years were tough, Patty became the consistent element to all of them. They divorced later but she continued to remain faithful in the children's lives. Along with her parents, Patty is preceded in death by her brother, Dwayne Humphrey; children, Benjamin E. Higgins II and Daniel L. Higgins, Sr.; and grandson, Andrew. 

Patty is survived by her sisters, Joe Ann Strickland of Arizona, Phyllis Jeffries (Jim) of New Mexico; brother, Irvin Humphrey (Joy) of Wisconsin, and sister-in-law, Janelle Humphrey of Wisconsin; children, John E. Higgins II (Paige), Joyce Brown (Charles), Miriam Burton (Steve), and Michael Higgins (Carolyn); grandchildren, Karyetta, Byron, Daniel, Krista, Jeremy, John III, Ryan, R.J., Anna, Celica, Robin, and Louis; nieces and nephews, Jeremy and Loren, Tamera, Tanya, Irvin Jr, Aaron, Andrew, Angel, and Charity; and a host of great-grandchildren.
