Obituary of Carolyn B. Qualls

Carolyn B. Qualls, 78, of Jeffersonville, formerly of Ashland, Kentucky passed away April 14, 2019 at Clark Memorial Hospital.  She was born May 19, 1940 in Meta, Kentucky to the late Norvell and Mildred F. Bevins. 

She graduated in 1958 with honors from Huntington East High School.  She obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in 1962 from Marshall University and her Master of Arts degree in 1982 from Morehead State University.

Carolyn was a retired teacher for over 30 years at Paul Blazer High School where she taught Latin, French and English.   She was active in National, State and Local education associations, was past president of the Ashland Educational Association, a member of the Kentucky Retired Teachers Association and a Kentucky Colonel. 

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, William Qualls; a daughter, Ann Qualls; a sister, Barbara Sue Bevins; and a brother, Gary Bevins.

She is survived by her son, Curt William (Cathy) Qualls; a sister, Patricia Miller; nephews, Josh (Becky) Miller, Chris Miller and Joey Bevins; a niece, Lisa Cavin; grand nephews, Bryant Cavin, Adison Cavin and Eli Miller; and grand nieces, Mycah Miller, Gaby Miller and Zoe Miller.

A committal service to celebrate Carolyn’s life will be conducted Saturday, April 20, 2019 at Noon at Rose Hill Cemetery Mausoleum, 3801 13th Street, Ashland, Kentucky 41102 with Ed Caudill officiating.
