William E. Fortner “Bill”, 60, of Charlestown, IN passed away on Friday, October 18, 2019 at Clark Memorial Hospital. Legacy Funeral Center has been entrusted with his care.

A funeral service for Bill will be at 1 PM on Tuesday, October 22, 2019 at Legacy Funeral Center, 921 Main St. Jeffersonville, IN with burial to follow at Walnut Ridge Cemetery. Visitation for Bill will be on Monday, October 21, from 12 PM – 8 PM and on Tuesday, October 22, from 11 AM – 1 PM at the funeral center.

Bill was born on October 28, 1958 in Jeffersonville, IN. He was a hard worker, and was a dedicated employee of Backyard Staycation Pools for over 30 years. Bill also loved old cars and was an avid NASCAR fan, and enjoyed rooting for anyone his brother didn’t like. In his free time, Bill also enjoyed riding motorcycles, woodworking, and spending time with his beloved pets.

Bill is preceded in death by his parents, Billie and Virginia Fortner, and his beloved dog, Brutus.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Tammy Fortner; children, Jennifer Wertz (Gary), Rachel Allen (Dave), David Toan, Donnie Toan (Shelly), Brandon Hooker (Emily), and Kamisha Burmback (Steven); grandchildren, Lucas, Cameron, Trevor, Jacob, Jasmine, Jordan, Grant, Haley, Sterling, Steven Riley, and Knox; great-granddaughter, Laiken; and siblings, LaDonna Arnold (Raymond) and Donald Fortner (Marnetta).
