Nothing I write will do Ed justice but I will give it a shot.
For us it was "love at first sight." Ed made me a better person, a better mom and a better tennis player. We only spent four years together, but those 4 years were intense, passionate and amazing. We played a LOT of tennis together and against each other (it was more fun being his doubles partner though, being on the receiving end of his serve or forehand was wicked). We traveled and got to experience playing tennis in different states too. We always imagined having more time to go to more places together and I couldn't have ever asked for a better partner in life (and on the court). Keep sending me signs Ed... I am watching and I can't wait to hug and kiss you again on the "other side." Please wait for me. xoxo, Christine.
p.s. PUMPKIN!!!

I've known Ed for his entire life, and we worked together at Premier Products early in his tech. career. True, he marched to a different drum, but was loyal and loving to his friends and family. Taken far too soon, he will be sorely missed. Rest in peace, my friend.

Once when Ed and I were hanging out I was playing a song on my guitar. As you all know, Ed was a true music lover, but I didn't even know he could play any chords on the guitar and he took it from me.
In classic Ed timing and tuning he strummed through a few choruses from an old Grateful Dead song, Uncle John's Band.
We shared music and friendship that day. We laughed and got high and figured we'd pretty much live forever.

I'll never forget the first time I saw Ed run. Yes. I remember it. As someone who never slows down, Ed moved like a sloth. Now I've never seen him play tennis, so for all his tennis buddies, forgive me if you knew a faster Ed.
Our kids were young at the time, and we started up some softball and kickball games at George Rogers Park. Ed showed up one day to play and I saw him run around the bases. I was quickly enamored! I will refrain from sharing what went through my mind, but it was complimentary. Mind you, he wasn't running fast, but he was running!
At some point, Karen and I finally convinced him to go camping with us. I think it was down in Big South Fork. All I recall was it involved some reconnaissance on Karen's part - 'ol Eagle Eyes - and climbing a ladder with our packs to get to our destination. I feel like we all enjoyed ourselves, but we never could get Ed to go camping with us again after that! Karen and I still laugh about that!
The one big thing that stands out for me was how Ed would answer a question. If he was of a different opinion, or the answer wasn't black and white, he would start off with a long, drawn out 'weeeeelllll,'. And sometimes he would add his notorious chuckle. I can hear it now. I wish I could do him justice with a little mimicry, but I'm no good at that.
I'm still in disbelief that I will never see or hear him again. Not in this life time. I know he is still out there, though. I look forward to the time when I will see him again. You're on the next part of the journey, Ed. Save a seat on the bus for me. :)
